PHILADELPHIA – La Salle senior
Ramon Galloway has been named Atlantic 10 and Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week for January 28, it was announced today. He also received the "Lute Olsen National Player of the Week" by CollegeInsider.com.
Galloway poured in a career-high 31 points in La Salle's 69-61 victory over then #19/16 VCU in Richmond on Saturday night, propelling the Explorers to its second straight victory over a top-20 foe. The senior converted the go-ahead lay-up with 2.7 seconds remaining in La Salle's 54-53 win over then #9/9 Butler on Wednesday evening at Gola Arena, prompting a court storming.
Galloway upped his season scoring total to 17.2 points/game on the season, good for third in the conference. He also ranks fourth in steals/game (2.4), ninth in three point field goal percentage (.419), and fourth in three point field goals/game (2.8).
Galloway was named to ESPN.com's "Starting Five," the top five players of the week nationally. He shares Big 5 honors with Villanova's Darrun Hilliard.
The Explorers host Massachusetts on Wednesday at 7 PM from Tom Gola Arena.
