PHILADELPHIA - Coming off a Sweet 16 season last year, there is a lot to look forward to for the upcoming men's basketball season. The La Salle Athletics Department is excited to announce a jam packed promotions schedule to accompany a schedule that has over 20 games nationally televised
.
The opening week of basketball includes four games between the men's and women's teams. Women's basketball opens the season playing cross city rival Temple on Friday, November 8 at 7 p.m. The game is being touted as Alumni Day and the first 100 students will receive a one-of-a-kind gold "Fear The Stache" basketball pinnie.
The following day, Saturday, November 9 at 2 p.m., the men's basketball team will take on Manhattan. Not only is this the season opener, but a banner commemorating the team's road to the Sweet Sixteen will be unveiled. In addition, the first 2,000 fans in the door will receive a replica Sweet Sixteen banner.
On Tuesday, November 12, the men's basketball team plays Quinnipiac in an early morning match up that is part of the ESPN Tip-Off Marathon. The 9 a.m. game will be televised on ESPN and everyone in attendance will receive a free Under Armour water bottle. In conjunction with Wounded Warrior, we will celebrate Veterans Day with free admission for all Veterans and military personnel. All Veterans in attendance will be recognized during the game.
Rounding out opening week, the University will celebrate Homecoming at the men's game on Saturday, November 16 at 3 p.m. when the team takes on Siena. The crowning of Homecoming King and Queen will take place at halftime of the game.
