ATLANTA, Ga. - La Salle senior
Ramon Galloway has been selected to play in the Reese's Division I College All-Star Game, the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced today. The contest will be played on Friday at 5 PM at the Georgia Dome, site of this weekend's Final Four.
The game will be broadcast on tape-delay on Sunday at 2 PM on CBS Sports.
The teams are composed of 22 senior student-athletes from NCAA Division I programs across America. The
Reese's All-Star game will feature a pair of outstanding coaches who played in the 1995 All-Star game. Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg will coach the West All-Stars and Tennessee coach Cuonzo Martin will coach the East All-Stars.
Galloway joins fellow Big 5 player Mouphtaou Yarou of Villanova and Atlantic 10 rivals Kwamain Mitchell (Saint Louis) and Troy Daniels (VCU) on the East team. He is the second Explorer in the past four years to play in the Reese's All-Star Game, joining Rodney Green who played in 2010.
Galloway helped lead the La Salle men's basketball team to the NCAA Sweet 16 with three wins in five days over Boise State, Kansas State and Ole Miss. The first team All-Atlantic 10 and USBWA All-District selection averaged a team-best 17.2 ppg. and 3.7 apg. In just two seasons after transferring from South Carolina, Galloway scored 1,023 points to rank in the top 50 all-time at La Salle. He is second all-time in career three-point shooting percentage and 11th all-time in three-point field goals made.
The Philadelphia, Pa. native will also participate in the College Slam Dunk Contest on Thursday at 7 PM on ESPN.
