PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle men's basketball team will participate in the 2013 Ezybonds Global Payments U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam from November 22-25, head coach Dr. John Giannini announced today. The Explorers will open up with Morgan State on November 22 at 9:00 PM Eastern.
 
“This tournament provides us with excellent opponents on a neutral court,” Giannini said. “It is a great competitive opportunity and strengthens our schedule. The location also provides a opportunity to experience a beautiful place that makes for lifelong memories.”
 
The other two teams on La Salle's side of the bracket are Providence and Vanderbilt. Other teams at the Paradise Jam include Maryland, Northern Iowa, Loyola Marymount and Marist.

La Salle has also competed at the Paradise Jam in 2001, 2003 and 2008. 
 
Last year, six of the Paradise Jam games were broadcast nationally on the CBS Sports Network. The remainder of the contests were video streamed online free of charge.

The U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam offers men's and women's college basketball teams a chance for excellent early season competition in an exotic island setting. Since the tournament's inception in 2000, many of the nation's finest men and women's teams have converged on St. Thomas to test their skills and enjoy some fun in the sun.
 
Since 2001, the tournament has been played at the 4,000-seat UVI Sports and Fitness Center. The UVI facility was praised as the best non-mainland tournament facility by several NCAA head coaches.
