La Salle To Face St. Bonaventure In A-10 First Round On Thursday At Noon On CSN

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — La Salle has received the eighth seed in the 2014 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship and will face ninth-seeded St. Bonaventure on Thursday at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. The game will tip-off at noon and be televised regionally on Comcast SportsNet in Philadelphia. Tickets are available by calling the La Salle ticket office at 215-951-1999.

Additional regional distribution includes CSN Mid-Atlantic, SNY, CSN New England, CSN Northwest, and TCN Pittsburgh. Thursday's game will also be streamed via Atlantic10.com.

The Explorers (15-15, 7-9 A-10) and Bonnies (16-14, 6-10 A-10) split the regular season with each team winning at home. St. Bonaventure captured a 66-51 win in Olean on January 22 while La Salle won 75-67 on February 26. 

The winner of that contest will face top-seeded Saint Louis on Friday at noon on NBC Sports Network.

Saint Louis claimed the regular season title and the top seed. The Billikens captured their second consecutive regular season title outright with a 13-3 conference record and will receive a bye to the quarterfinals.
 
VCU is the second seed and will also receive a bye into the quarterfinals. The Rams finished 12-4 in league play. George Washington and Saint Joseph's tied for third place at 11-5. GW defeated the Hawks during the regular season, giving the Colonials the tiebreaker advantage and the No. 3 Seed. Saint Joseph's will be seeded fourth to claim the final quarterfinal bye.
 
No. 5 Dayton finished at 10-6 and tied with Massachusetts. The Flyers won the regular season matchup with UMass and claim the head-to-head tiebreaker, making Dayton the fifth seed and the Minutemen No. 6. Richmond finished at 8-8 and will be seeded seventh, just ahead of 7-9 La Salle at No. 8. St. Bonaventure is 6-10 and will be the No. 9 seed.  Duquesne and Rhode Island tied at 5-11, and Duquesne earns the No. 10 seed and Rhode Island is No. 11 based on head-to-head results.
 
George Mason and Fordham are No. 12 and 13 respectively and will square off in the championship's opening round Wednesday night at 7:00 pm. The Mason/Fordham winner advances to play No. 5 Dayton at 2:30 pm on Thursday. No. 8 La Salle and No. 9 St. Bonaventure tip off the Thursday first round at noon. No. 7 Richmond faces No. 10 Duquesne at 6:30 pm Thursday. Sixth-seeded UMass and No. 11 Rhode Island play in Thursday's final game at 9:00 pm.
 
The La Salle/Bona winner advances to face No. 1 Saint Louis at Noon Friday in the quarterfinals. The winner between Dayton and the Mason/Fordham game will face No. 4 Saint Joseph's at 2:30 in the quarterfinals. Second-seeded VCU plays the Richmond/Duquesne winner at 6:30 pm Friday and third-seeded GW faces the Massachusetts/Rhody winner at 9 pm Friday.
 
The semifinals will be played Saturday at 1:30 and 4:00 pm and the championship final will tip off on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
Every game of the first round, quarterfinals, semifinals and final will air on live television. The first round will be carried by NBCSN and selected regional affiliates (the regional games will also be streamed on Atlantic10.com). The quarterfinals will all air on NBCSN.  CBS Sports Network will carry the semifinals, and CBS will again air the championship game as part of the network's Selection Sunday coverage.
