NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The La Salle men's basketball team will play home-and-home series with city rival Saint Joseph's and Elite 8 participant Dayton, along with Fordham, Massachusetts and Rhode Island, as the Atlantic 10 Conference announced its parings for the 2014-15 season.
In addition to playing home games versus Saint Joseph's, Dayton, Fordham, UMass and Rhode Island, the Explorers will host league newcomer Davidson, Duquesne, George Washington and Richmond.
Away games include trips to George Mason, St. Bonaventure, Saint Louis and VCU in addition to the five home-and-home opponents.
The A-10 is coming off a historical season in which a record six teams earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament, including Dayton's run to the Elite Eight, the seventh straight year an A-10 team has reached an NCAA Regional round (Sweet 16). The league also had seven teams ranked or earning votes in the national poll and finished with six teams in the RPI top 50.
The 18 game schedule and the addition of Davidson brings the total number of conference games in the upcoming season to 126, which allows teams to face each opponent once and five teams twice. The complete 2014-15 conference schedule with dates and times will be announced at a later date.
The 2015 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship will be played March 11-15, 2015 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
