PHILADELPHIA – Meghan McGlinchey has been named to the 2013-14 Capital One Academic All-District Track & Field/Cross Country team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Capital One and CoSIDA recognize the nation's top student-athletes annually for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
McGlinchey, a first-team District II honoree, was one of six Atlantic 10 female runners to be recognized. She graduated in May with 3.43 GPA as a Speech Language Hearing Science major.
The West Deptford, N.J. native recently put the finishing touches on a spectacular distance career at 20
th & Olney. She finished in the top half of the 5k and 10k fields at the NCAA Preliminary Championships in Jacksonville, Florida over the weekend. She is the only Explorer woman in history to qualify for the NCAA Championships in cross country (2012), indoor (2014), and outdoor (2012-14).
The West Deptford product enjoyed an outstanding senior season, highlighted by a Second-Team All-American nod in the indoor 5k. She was named Most Outstanding Performer nod at the A-10 Indoor Championships after setting conference championship records in the 3k (9:28.43) and 5k (16:27.58). She won gold at the A-10 Outdoor Championships with another record time in the 10k (34:22.38) before adding a silver medal to her mantle in the 5k (16:37.14).
McGlinchey retires as La Salle's record holder in the 5000m indoor (15:53.74), 3000m outdoor (9:44.22), and 5000m outdoor (16:07.32).
She has twice been named an Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference performer and has been recognized as USTFCCCA All-Academic on two occasions as well.
