Philadelphia- La Salle Volleyball (2-3) dropped a closely contested four set match against the Howard Bison (2-2) Tuesday night at Tom Gola Arena. The Explorers won the first set 25-22, however, they were unable to build on that as they dropped the next three sets to the Bison.
 
La Salle was able to win the first set thanks in part to Senior Jennifer Whelan and junior Kelly Perillo who both added 4 kills in the first set alone. Whelan hit at a .571 clip in the first set and .346 for the day. Freshmen Bryanna Davis also contributed two kills and seven digs in the first set to help the Explorers jump out to an early lead. 
 
Michelle Healy again led the team with 37 assists to go along with 11 digs for her first double-double of the season.
 
Sophomore Ashley Felton and Whelan led the team with 11 kills each on the evening with Whelan adding in four assists. For Felton this was her second game of the season that saw her tally at least 10 kills while Whelan reached double digits for the fourth straight game. 
 
Since taking over the libero position junior Erin Noga has been a steady presence in the back line racking up 17 digs on the day, her fourth straight game with double digits. 
 
The Explorers return to action this weekend when they travel to Towson, Md. for the Towson Invitational where they will take on Coppin State Friday at 4 pm. before facing Saint Peter's and Towson on Saturday.
