Explorers Fall to Quakers On Senior Day

PHILADELPHIA- The La Salle women's swimming and diving team fell to the Penn Quakers 180-117 in a dual meet on Saturday at Kirk Pool.

Emma Smith continued her strong freshman campaign by winning a pair of races and coming in second in the 500-yard freestyle. The Nepean, Ontario native finished nearly eight seconds ahead of the next swimmer in the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:18.72), came from behind to edge Penn's Catherine Yee by .29 seconds in the 200-yard IM (2:11.18), and finished 2nd by .42 seconds in the 500-yard freestyle (5:01.96) behind Penn's Virginia Burns.

Senior diver Paige Frishkorn earned nine points for the Explorers by winning the 1-meter dive with a score of (251.18) while fellow senior Dahlia Gordon took 3rd in the 3-meter dive (237.83) to earn three points. Frishkorn finished 4th in the 3-meter with a score of 237.83.

La Salle recognized seniors Chelsey Curran, Sarah Finn, Frishkorn, Gordon, Colleen Larkin, and Amina Wilson prior to the meet.

The Explorers will now turn their focus to the Atlantic 10 Championships at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio from February 18-21.
