NEWPORT NEWS, Va.- Freshman Olivia DiStefano has been named Atlantic 10 women's swimming and diving Freshman of the Week as announced by the conference on Tuesday.
 
The Philadelphia native kicked off the 400-yard Medley Relay with a 58.03 time, which is the top 100-yard backstroke time by an Atlantic 10 swimmer this season. DiStefano also swam a 24.63 to finish third in the 50-yard freestyle which is a top 10 time in the conference this year.
 
"It will be fun watching Olivia perform this year," said head coach Jamie Platt. "She has started off the season with great practices and it will be fun to see her rewarded for her hard work."
 
DiStefano also won the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 27.00 and helped the 200-yard freestyle relay team win with an overall time of 1:39.35 in a dual meet against defending Colonial Athletic Association runner up James Madison.
 
The Explorers return to the pool on Wednesday October 21 as they welcome Villanova to Kirk Pool for a 6 p.m. meet.
