PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's swimming and diving left their mark on program history at the Atlantic 10 Championships last week at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
La Salle's 800-yard freestyle relay team of
Emma Smith,
Sarah Finn,
Kaitlyn Hay and
Rory Kearns broke the school record on Wednesday, touching the wall in 7:26.14. The team surpassed the previous record of 7:29.83, set in 2012 (Elizabeth Jordan,
Greta Reichert, Adriana Correa,
Colleen Larkin).
Smith also set the 200-yard freestyle record in the process, finishing the opening leg of the relay in 1:49.73 to best Finn's record (1:51.41) from 2014.
Smith also set a new school record while earning the silver medal in the 500-yard freestyle, clocking 4:50.92 to beat
Colleen Larkin's record of 4:53.54 from 2013.
The Nepean, Ontario native also won the gold in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:39.78 on the final day of competition.
