BRONX, N.Y.- The La Salle softball team dropped both sides of a doubleheader 8-0, 8-1 at Fordham on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore
Michelle Hagarty finished the day with three hits in six at bats including a double and run scored.
The Explorers were able to jump out to an early lead in game two thanks to a leadoff double from Hagarty. After she moved to third base on a groundout she was able to score on a wild pitch to put La Salle up 1-0.
The score stayed that way through the first five innings. Through five the Rams had only a pair of hits and a walk to show offensively. However, the hosts were able to blow things open in the sixth inning.
Seven hits fueled the Rams on their way to eight runs including a three run homerun as Fordham comeback to take a 8-1 lead from which they wouldn't look back.
Freshman
McKenzie Peace had the start in game one and threw 5.0+ innings notching four strikeouts while allowing a pair of earned runs.
Game one was scoreless through four innings before the host Rams put up seven runs in the fifth inning on their way to an 8-0 victory.
The Explorers were able to get the leadoff runner on in each of the first two innings but were unable to move them around. Fordham threatened in the early going having two runners reach in the first inning and one in the second but were able to get out of trouble thanks in part to a double play on a grounder to Hagarty to get out of the second.
Fordham used six hits and two walks in the fifth inning on their way to seven runs. A grand slam from Lombardo blew the game open while the other three runs scored on a pair of singles. Back=to=back doubles in the bottom of the sixth inning plated the eighth run for the Rams and ended things in the first game.

Linnette Siedler, freshman
