Hannah Elliott helped Monmouth County (N.J.) finish second at the 2015 Nautica USLA National Lifeguard Championships earlier this month.
Â
Elliott won the Distance Swim to earn 20 team points while taking 4th in both the Taplin Relay and the Landline Rescue Race for a combined 10.5 points. The Long Branch, N.J. native also finished 7th in the Board Rescue Race and 8th in the Run-Swim-Run to secure 15.5 points for Monmouth.
Â
A total of 55 chapters from Hawaii to New York competed in the four-day event, which was coordinated by the U.S. Lifesaving Association and the Volusia Surf Lifesaving Association in conjunction with Volusia County's Beach Safety Division.
Â
Los Angeles County won the overall competition for the 41st time since 1970 after Monmouth County took the title in 2014 with the help of Elliott.
Â
"Hannah is a great competitor, and winning the distance swim bodes well for her upcoming season," said head coach
Jamie Platt. "She has constantly shown she is a great teammate here at La Salle and again for Monmouth County."
