La Salle University Announces the Appointment of William Bradshaw to the Role of Interim Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation

PHILADELPHIALa Salle University, Philadelphia's Catholic university in the tradition of the Brothers of the Christian Schools that is inspired by faith, dedicated to service and united in community, today announced that William "Bill" Bradshaw will assume the role of Interim Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation effective March 9, 2016.
 
Currently an intercollegiate athletics consultant with Lauer, Sbarbaro Associates/EMA Partners International, Bill has over 36 years of experience as an Intercollegiate Division I athletic director at La Salle (1978 – 1986), DePaul (1986 – 2002) and Temple (2002 – 2013) Universities.   Mr. Bradshaw left all three universities in more favorable conference affiliations and with unprecedented athletic achievements, academic performance, facilities upgrades and record revenues. 

During his prior tenure at La Salle, the Explorers won 28 conference championships on the way to three Commissioner Cups, three Men's Basketball NCAA appearances and two Women's Basketball bids.  During that time, he maintained an impressive 90% student-athlete graduation rate.
 
Mr. Bradshaw's other notable achievements include forming the Great Midwest Conference (Conference USA) while at DePaul University and ranking in the nation's top ten for total wins for Football and Men's and Women's Basketball for three consecutive years at Temple University.  While at Temple he also led the turnaround in the Football program and achieved the most significant improvement in the nation to date for the NCAA's Academic Progress Rate.

Among his many awards and accolades, Mr. Bradshaw was inducted into the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Hall of Fame in 2014, the La Salle University Hall of Fame in 1995, named the NACDA Athletic Director of the Year in 2011, and received an "A" from the Black Coaches Association for head coach hires at Temple for Women's Basketball, Men's Basketball and Football.  He received his B.A. degree from La Salle in 1969, and is a member of the University's Hall of Athletes.

A national search for a permanent successor will formally commence at a later date.
