PHILADELPHIA- Senior
Mary Cate Scott threw a two-hit shutout as the La Salle women's softball team picked up a 2-0 win at Drexel on Tuesday afternoon.
Scott (9-4) struck out a pair of batters while only allowing two hits and one walk in the complete game shutout.
The Explorers jumped out to the early lead picking up a run in the top of the second. After junior
Suzanne Swanicke drew a one-out walk, she was plated when sophomore
Bridgett Magee hit a two-out double to right field.
La Salle added on to its lead in the top of the seventh thanks to a two-out rally. Junior
Tori Gollie started things off with a single to right field. Sophomore
Angelina Refice followed that up with a single to center before junior
Mackenzie Obert plated Gollie with a single up the middle. The Explorers ultimately loaded the bases but were unable to do further damage.
Scott faced the minimum number of batters in five of the seven innings she toed the rubber and didn't allow a baserunner to advance past second.

Valerie Pineiro added hits on the day while junior
Michelle Hagarty, and
Lindsey Gaines both reached on walks as did Gollie.
La Salle returns to action as it hosts George Mason for a weekend series beginning on Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at noon.
