PHILADELPHIA - After scoring a career-high 29 points in a win over Big 5 rival Temple on Sunday, La Salle men's basketball player Pookie Powell was named GoExplorers.com Student-Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.

Powell shot 10-for-19 from the floor and added three assists without turning the ball over in 36 minutes of action against the Owls, who entered the game receiving votes in the Associated Press Top 25 poll. With under a minute remaining and the Explorers trailing by one, the Orlando, Fla. product nailed a go-ahead three-pointer to give La Salle a lead it would not relinquish.

La Salle men's basketball (4-3) continues the 2017-18 season in Northern Ireland at the Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic on Dec. 1-2. The Explorers will tangle with Towson on the opening day of the event, which will be televised live in the United States on CBS Sports Network.
