FAIRFAX, Va. – The La Salle softball team (10-11, 1-2 A-10) fell 4-0 in the series finale to the George Mason Patriots (6-19, 2-1 A-10) on Sunday afternoon at the George Mason softball complex.
Taylor Rohrbaugh finished 2-for-3 and
Jackie Heim went 2-for-4 but the Explorers struggled to get the offense going against GMU's Marina Vitalich (W, 5-6).
GMU took a 1-0 lead in the 1
st inning on a sac fly against
Marlo Roadcap (L, 4-4). The sophomore was charged with two runs (one earned) over 3.2 innings before the Explorers turned to
McKenzie Peace for the final 2.1 innings.
Mason scored on another sac fly in the 4
th against Roadcap before adding insurance runs in the 5
th and 6
th to push the lead to 4-0.
La Salle returns to action this week against crosstown rival Villanova on Tuesday. The doubleheader will start at 3 p.m.
