Field Hockey Edged by Lock Haven in Season Finale

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The La Salle University field hockey team closed out its 2018 season with a 2-0 loss to Lock Haven on Sunday afternoon. The Explorers got off to a slow start and could not recover in falling to 8-10 on the year and 2-5 in Atlantic 10 play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bald Eagles took the lead just 4:20 into the contest when Dana-Lee De Gannes collected a deflected pass and finished for her ninth goal this season.
  • Lock Haven controlled the pace of play for the opening 35 minutes, registering all eight shots in the period and holding a 6-0 edge in penalty corners.
  • In the 25th minute, the home team doubled its lead as Alyscia Smith scored off a penalty corner to put the score at 2-0.
  • In the second half, La Salle turned up the pressure down the stretch and had four shots and three penalty corners over the final nine minutes.
  • Sophomore Rialee Allen had two of those opportunities but was high with an attempt and had her second stopped by Brianna DeAngelis.
  • Lock Haven held off every chance the Explorers had over the closing moments to collect the shutout win.
