PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle softball team (12-31, 3-16 A-10) scored four runs in the 1
st inning but couldn't hold on as the Saint Louis Billikens (25-25, 10-8 A-10) took the series finale 6-4 on Sunday afternoon at West Campus Field.
Saint Louis took the lead in the 6
th on Kaylea Chapelle's two-run single after back-to-back singles and a walk loaded the bases with two outs.
Emily Conaway had an RBI single and
Bridget Magee laced a three-run homer to center in the bottom of the 1
st to give La Salle a 4-2 lead. The Billikens eventually tied the game at 4-4 with two runs in the top of the 3
rd.
Reilly Gearhart (L, 7-10) hurled her 11
th complete-game of the season, allowing six runs (five earned) on nine hits and five walks.
Chapelle (W, 7-6) didn't allow an earned run in six innings of work after Saint Louis committed two errors during La Salle's four-run 1
st inning. Kallen Loveless earned her second save of the season by working a scoreless 7
th inning.
La Salle has their final Atlantic 10 series at Fordham next weekend.
