PHILADELPHIA - La Salle senior
B.J. Johnson has been selected to participate at the prestigious Portsmouth Invitational, it was announced recently. The event, which features 64 of the top college basketball seniors in the country, will run from April 11-14 in Portsmouth, Va.
Now in its 66th year of existence, the four-day, 12-game tournament is played in front of representatives from every NBA team. Fans can watch live streaming of all games, plus combine testing on the mornings of April 11 and 12, through the event's website – portsmouthinvitational.com.
Johnson is the first La Salle player since
Ramon Galloway in 2013 to accept an invitation to the pre-NBA Draft tournament. The 6-7 forward was named Second Team All-Atlantic 10 following a 2017-18 season that saw him average 20.8 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. He scored in double figures in all 27 contests, including 17 games with 20 or more points.
The Philadelphia native finished his two-year career with the Explorers with 1,070 points to rank 47th on La Salle's career scoring list. He was named to the Hall of Fame Tip-Off and Belfast Classic All-Tournament Teams in 2017-18, and was also selected Second Team NABC All-District for the second straight season.
