Team Effort Results in Field Hockey Completing Sweep Against Central Michigan

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle University field hockey team (3-0) had six different players register a point in the Explorers' 3-1 win over Central Michigan (1-3) Monday afternoon. This is the team's best start since going 2-0 to open the 2007 season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Central Michigan struck first, scoring during the 26th minute of play to open a 1-0 lead.
  • During the 28th minute, La Salle responded with senior Logan Oh finding the back of the cage on an assist from junior Chloe Lucky.
  • About four minutes later, junior Amanda Chapin scored the eventual game winner on a feed from freshman Shannon O'Reilly's corner. The Explorers took a 2-1 lead into the break.
  • La Salle started the second half quick, adding its third goal just five minutes into the frame. The team had a penalty corner that eventually set up sophomore Rialee Allen to drill a shot past the keeper, seeing a dish from classmate Amber Blackshear.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • In cage, junior Emma Provost made three saves, allowing the lone goal.
  • Both Oh's and Chapin's goals were their first on the year.
  • Lucky and Blackshear's assists mark the first of their careers.
