GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands - Fresh off a thrilling overtime win in the title game of the Gulf Coast Showcase, it was announced that the La Salle University men's basketball team will participate in the Cayman Islands Classic on Nov. 23-25, 2020.

The Explorers will join Kansas State, Oregon State, Miami (Fla.), Mississippi, Nevada, Western Kentucky and Northern Iowa in the eight-team event that will take place just before Thanksgiving.

The trip will be the first for La Salle to the Grand Cayman Islands and its eighth to a tournament in the Caribbean. Most recently, the Explorers played in the 2013 Paradise Jam in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, defeating Morgan State and dropping games to Providence and Northern Iowa.

The team has played in that event four times and has also taken part in the San Juan Shootout (1995, 2007) and the Cancun Classic (2010).

La Salle (4-2) returns to the Northeast for a rivalry game against fellow Big 5 school No. 22 Villanova on Sunday, Dec. 1. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m., and the game will air live nationally on FS1.
