NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - La Salle University freshman Sherif Kenney was named Atlantic 10 Co-Rookie of the Week, it was announced on Monday. Kenney shares the first weekly award of his collegiate career with Gibson Jimerson of Saint Louis.

Kenney played a key role in La Salle's three victories at the Gulf Coast Showcase, averaging 10.7 points and shooting 45.5 percent from three-point range as the Explorers took home the tournament title.

Against reigning Ohio Valley Conference champion Murray State in the opening round, Kenney connected on four triples and tallied 15 points in a 75-64 win. Two days later in the title-game win over South Alabama, the Washington, D.C. product matched his season-high mark with 15 points and added four assists, four rebounds, a blocked shot and a steal.

La Salle (4-3) continues the non-conference season on Saturday, Dec. 7 with a matchup against fellow Philadelphia institution Drexel. The contest will begin at 2:00 p.m., and is scheduled to air live regionally on NBC Sports Philadelphia Plus.
