Men's Basketball Adds Sherif Kenney to Roster for 2019-20

Men's Basketball | July 2, 2019

PHILADELPHIA – La Salle University head men's basketball coach Ashley Howard has announced the addition of Sherif Kenney (Washington, D.C.) to the roster for the 2019-20 season.

"We are excited to add Sherif Kenney to the La Salle basketball family," Howard said. "Sherif is going to bring dynamic playmaking ability to our team, which is desperately needed. Based on his high-school experience, he is battle tested and will be ready to make an immediate impact."

A physical 6-4 guard, Kenney spent last season at Orr Academy in Chicago, Ill., where he helped the Spartans win the Class 2A state championship. In the title game against Nashville, Kenney scored 19 points on an efficient 7-of-11 from the floor in a 50-36 victory. He was an Honorable Mention All-State selection by the Associated Press.

Prior to playing in the Midwest, Kenney attended both Brewster Academy in New Hampshire and Rock Creek Christian Academy in Maryland. As a sophomore at Rock Creek, Kenney was a key member of a team that was ranked in the Top 10 nationally and advanced to the championship game of the Maryland Private Schools Tournament.

Kenney joins a highly-regarded recruiting class that will join Howard's Explorers for the upcoming season: freshmen Ayinde Hikim, Christian Ray and Brandon Stone, along with Indiana transfer Clifton Moore. Moore will sit out the 2019-20 season due to NCAA transfer regulations.
