Men's Basketball | September 4, 2019
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The La Salle University men's basketball team will be featured on national television a total of six times during the 2019-20 campaign, including the home and season opener on Saturday, Nov. 9 against Iona, as the Atlantic 10 Conference unveiled this year's men's basketball schedule, along with its television package, on Wednesday.
La Salle's opener, which will be part of La Salle University's Homecoming Weekend, will air live on NBC Sports Network from Tom Gola Arena at TruMark Financial Center, beginning at 4:00 p.m.
In addition, five Atlantic 10 contests featuring the Explorers will be broadcast by the league's television partners. The A-10 opener against Dayton on Thursday, Jan. 2 will appear on CBS Sports Network, with the tip time from Gola Arena to be announced at a later date.
The four remaining televised contests will be shown on NBC Sports Network, beginning with a Saturday matinee on Jan. 18 at Rhode Island, scheduled for a 12:30 p.m. tip. VCU, the Atlantic 10 regular-season champion from a season ago, invades Gola Arena a week later on Saturday, Jan. 25 for a 12:00 p.m. game.
February features the final two national TV appearances for the Explorers -- a matchup with Big 5 rival Saint Joseph's on Saturday, February 8 at 5:00 p.m., and a road showdown with A-10 tournament champion Saint Louis on Saturday, February 15 at 2:30 p.m. ET.
Thirteen Atlantic 10 contests that include the Explorers will stream live on ESPN+, as well as five more home La Salle games during the non-conference season. The remaining home league games that will be streamed on the digital platform are George Mason (Jan. 11), Saint Louis (Jan. 29), Richmond (Feb. 12), Fordham (Feb. 19), St. Bonaventure (Feb. 29) and UMass (March 4). Additional road A-10 contests announced on Wednesday include at Fordham (Jan. 5), UMass (Jan. 8), Richmond (Jan. 22), Duquesne (Feb. 2), George Washington (Feb. 22), Davidson (Feb. 25) and Saint Joseph's (March 7).
The season-ending matchup with St. Joe's will lead into the 2020 Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship, which will be held for the sixth time at the iconic Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. Eleven of those games will be nationally broadcast on NBCSN, CBS Sports Network and CBS Television Network, which will broadcast the final on Sunday, March 15 at 1:00 p.m. ET.
All told, the Atlantic 10 schedule will feature 85 nationally televised games on the league's four media partners: ESPN, CBS Sports, NBCSN and Stadium. Those broadcasts provide 160 appearances for A-10 teams. Through its robust television package and all-encompassing digital agreement with ESPN+, every home game for all 14 league members will be available on TV or digitally.
"Once again it's exciting to announce a new conference basketball schedule. ESPN, CBS Sports, NBCSN and Stadium are outstanding partners providing unprecedented national exposure," stated Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade. "In conjunction with the ESPN+ platform, A-10 fans will be able to watch every Atlantic 10 game."
