PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle women's rowing team competed in the Head of the Schuylkill Regatta on Saturday afternoon, led by an impressive silver medal performance by the frosh 8+ crew.
"The team raced powerfully and with good results today," said interim head coach
Bill Manning. "The Class of 2025, our first-years, led the way winning a silver medal. We also placed well in the Championship events, especially relative to our traditional rivals."
The first boat to compete for the women, the frosh 8+ crew led by coxswain
Emily Perry got off to a great start. The rookies led themselves to a silver medal finish, placing just 17 seconds behind leaders Lehigh with a 14:08.54 time and more than 47 seconds ahead of the third place boat.
With 41 entries in the women's club championship 8+ race, including two boats from the Explorers, the La Salle "A" crew finished within the top 10. The crew, led by coxswain
Maddy Clune, finished just over 30 seconds off a top three time as they crossed the finish line in 13:34.10.
"It's a good, fun start to the season and will give the rowers further motivation to train for the spring," concluded Manning.
