FAIRFAX, Va. - Junior Nassim Fenjiro earned a hard-fought victory at No. 3 singles, but George Mason was able to defeat the La Salle University men's tennis team in the Atlantic 10 opener for the Explorers on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Patriots easily swept through doubles, losing just five games across three matches to take a 1-0 lead.
• Senior Rogelio Gonzalez picked up a first-set victory at the top singles spot to give La Salle some momentum, but the Explorers could not take advantage.
• George Mason won in straight sets at No. 4 to take a 2-0 advantage, then moved to the verge of clinching the match with a win at No. 2.
• Gonzalez saw his opponent, Rithik Sardana, storm back to win the second, 6-0, and eventually gave the Patriots the clinching point with a 6-2 win in the third.
• Fenjiro battled back from a tough first-set tiebreaker loss to win the second in a tiebreak as well, 7-6 (1). The junior sealed his triumph with a 10-5 advantage in the super-tiebreaker.
