Cassie Kincaid registered a career-high 13 saves and the La Salle University field hockey team held reigning America East regular-season champion Monmouth scoreless over the final 42 minutes of a 4-0 loss on Sunday morning.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Explorers had their first chance of the contest in the seventh minute, with freshman Tatum Johnson taking a penalty corner.
- Johnson's classmate Paige Doyle had the first shot of the game blocked by a Monmouth defender.
- In the 10th minute, the home team found the scoring column with Bente Steenhorst tallying the first goal.
- Monmouth extended its lead with goals in the 12th, 16th, and 18th minutes to build a four-score cushion.
- From there, the two teams fought the balance of the game without breaking through offensively.
- La Salle had its best two chances in the 37th and 51st minutes, as penalty corners resulted in a pair of shots.
- Senior Rialee Allen had her attempt blocked, while Johnson pushed her second shot of the game wide.
