RICHMOND, VA. – La Salle field hockey (4-6. 0-2 A-10) did not allow a goal in the second half, but the Explorers fell on the road to reigning A-10 champion VCU, 2-0 on Sunday afternoon in Richmond.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Neither side generated much offense in the opening fifteen minutes, as the Rams (5-3, 2-1 A-10) recorded the lone shot of the quarter as the teams remained locked at 0-0 through the first 15 minutes.
- VCU's offense gained traction in the second period, as they attempted six corners while scoring two goals.
- Litiana Field broke the ice at the 19:54 mark, scoring on her own rebound to give the Rams a 1-0 lead.
- VCU extended their lead just under four minutes later, as Camila Rosenbrock chipped a shot into the back of the cage for a 2-0 lead.
- Pace slowed back down in the third, as the teams combined for just six shots in a scoreless second half to give VCU a 2-0 win.
