CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. – The Explorer's weekend comes to a close after a dominating 3-0 win against the Rider Broncs. Three different Explorers found the back of the cage in the victory, and they now sit at 3-1 in 2023.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Within the first 10 minutes of the contest, Sol Espona got her second goal of the season and now is on a two-game scoring streak.
• Sophia Wasyliw strengthened the lead for La Salle after scoring in the final minute of the first quarter. The Explorers led 2-0 and Wasyliw earned her first goal of 2023.
• La Salle yet again is getting offensive help from freshman Clara Larripa. Larripa scored in her second straight game, and now leads La Salle with three goals on the season.
• In the third quarter, La Salle faced their greatest threat of letting in a goal when Rider was awarded a penalty shot. On the play leading to the shot, starting goalie for La Salle Ryan Curley was injured on the play. Senior Emily Streib came into the game and immediately held strong in the cage as Rider was unsuccessful with their penalty shot attempt.
• The Explorer defense held strong throughout the entire game as they did not allow the Rider offense to convert on any of their nine corner shots.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• La Salle led the way taking 17 total shots, eight of which were on goal. Espona and Tatum Johnson each took four shots in the game.
• Larripa is now the team's leading scorer, three goals, in her freshman bout with La Salle.
• Rider had five saves in the match, La Salle had three, two by Streib and one by Curley.
• There were two green cards assessed to Rider in the match, one yellow was given to an Explorer.

 
UP NEXT:

• La Salle will return to action on Friday, September 8^th at 1:00 p.m. when they will take on Fairfield. The match will be held at the Proving Grounds and a home match for the Explorers.
