Men's Rowing Set for Start of Henley Royal Regatta Tuesday

HENLEY-ON-THAMES, United Kingdom - The La Salle University men's rowing team begins competition at the Henley Royal Regatta on Tuesday. The Explorers will have two boats competing in the world-reknowned event beginning at 11:45 a.m. local time (6:45 a.m. ET). 

ABOUT THE EXPLORERS
  • La Salle's coxed four will take part in the Prince Albert Challenge Cup against the University of Edinburgh in the first race of the day for the team.
  • Edinburgh, who won the Prince Albert Challenge Cup in 2016, have opted to put their top athletes into the four.
  • The team kicked off their regatta season with a fourth-placed finish at BUCS Regatta in championship coxed fours before following that up with a second in championship coxed fours on the Sunday of the Metropolitan Regatta.
  • The team won the Scottish Championship before closing out their domestic season by finishing fifth overall at Marlow Regatta, six seconds behind the University of London.
  • Later in the afternoon, the Explorers' eight will square off against University of Birmingham.
  • Birmingham was one of 16 crews to qualify for the main draw out of the 56 teams who participated in the qualifying races.
