HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The contest started off slow, with limited action in the first few minutes of play. Fairfield earned the first corner five minutes in.
  • Abby Boggs made her first save of the game after six minutes of play.
  • The La Salle defense held strong as Fairfield stayed on the attack for the remainder of the first frame. Boggs made her first at the 9:37 mark.
  • Like the first quarter, the second started off with low action. La Salle fired off its first shot attempt from Grace Ferriolo. It was turned away by the Fairfield keeper.
  • La Salle got on the board after successfully pressing the Stags. Grace Ferriolo lobbed the ball to the front of the cage where it found a waiting Roos Pasveer  who slammed the ball home for the score.
  • Just over a minute later, Fairfield tied the game at one. The match carried into the half at one all.
  • Fairfield earned the first action of the second half, parlaying a shot attempt from a corner.
  • With under four minutes left in the third quarter, Ferriolo scored off a ball from Pasveer who repaid the favor to put La Salle up 2-1 going into the fourth.
  • The Stags began the final quarter on the offensive, with two corners and a pair of shots in the first two minutes.
  • La Salle flipped the script in the following minutes, with Shea Burns and Sofia Enriquez firing off shots on target.
  • The last few minutes featured frantic action as Fairfield emptied the net in a attempt to the tie the game. La Salle held strong as the Stags fired six shots in the final 70 seconds. Abby Boggs made two saves, with Fairfield's final attempt ringing off the crossbar.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • The Explorers offense was constant, and a lot of the pressure came from off of the bench. Pasveer, Enriquez, and Ferriolo each tallied two shots on the day.
  • Pasveer and Ferriolo not only connected on goals, but they assisted on each other's conversions.
  • The Explorers were out-shot 15-8, but only had one less shot on goal with five, compared to the Stags' six.
  • La Salle only had one corner attempt on the day.
