This Week In La Salle Athletics: 11 Teams In Action With 5 Home Events

Men's Golf

The Explorers will wrap up the Bucknell Invitational today. The tournament began on Sunday.

Through 36 holes, freshman Kyle Virsik sits in a tie for second place, four strokes back of the lead.

Men's Soccer

La Salle men's soccer continues action Tuesday with a home game against Arcadia at 6:00 pm, followed by a road match at George Mason Saturday at 7:00 pm.

Last Saturday, freshman forward Julius de Vries scored his third goal of the season in the team's 1-1 draw against Loyola Chicago.

Women's Soccer

The Explorers play two matches this week, playing Fordham at home Thursday at 6:00 pm, then going back on the road to play Davidson Sunday at noon.

Last week, sophomore forward Alexis Garcia scored a hat trick and got an assist in the team's 5-1 win against George Washington.

Men's and Women's Rowing

After the Navy Day Regatta was canceled last weekend, both rowing teams will make their season debuts at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, MA.

Last year, the men's first Varsity 8+ took first place overall.

Men's and Women's Cross Country

The Explorers travel to New Jersey to compete in the Princeton Fall Classic Friday at 10:30 am.

In the teams' last meet, the men finished in 30th place and the women in 24th place at the Paul Short Run. Freshman Jacob Gardner was awarded A-10 Rookie of the Week honors for his 12th place finish in the Open Race.

Field Hockey

Following their first undefeated weekend off the season with shutout wins over Lock Haven and Mercyhurst, the Explorers will travel to Saint Louis Friday for their fourth A-10 game of the year.

Senior Shea Burns found the back of the cage twice against Mercyhurst.

Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving

The swim teams will compete against Drexel at home at 11:00 am Saturday. The women's team will also face off against James Madison.

In their season opening meet against Towson on September 27, junior Carter Perkins won the men's 100-yd and 200-yd free.

Rugby

La Salle hosts Army on Saturday at 1:00 pm in the Explorers' home finale. In its last home event, La Salle won two 7s matches against Temple as the team looks to build off the success at DeVincent Field.
