Water Polo Earns First Two Wins at Bucknell Invite as Co' Breaks Points and Steals Record

Lewisburg, Pa. – The La Salle Water Polo team earned its first two wins of the 2025 campaign as the Explorers took down the Mercyhurst Lakers and Siena Saints. Francesca Co' continued her outstanding beginning of the season, taking program records in career steals and points after taking the mark in goals last week.

HOW IT HAPPENED – BUCKNELL (L, 15-9)  
  • The Explorers fell behind 8-4 in the first half with Tatum Lomax and Grace Smith,  and Francesca Co' scoring for La Salle.
  • La Salle did not get closer than five the remainder of the contest despite goals from Co', Lomax, and Allie Hollo. The Explorers fell, 15-9.
HOW IT HAPPENED – MERCYHURST (W, 14-10)  
  • La Salle built an 8-4 first half lead off of goals in which Martina Bonet Seaz and Francesca Co' scored three goals each.
  • Lomax added a third hat trick in the second to seal the win for La Salle.
HOW IT HAPPENED – MOUNT ST. MARY'S (L, 16-13)  
  • La Salle led nearly the entire first half, taking an 8-5 lead into the locker room. Lomax led the Explorers with three goals.
  • The Mount scored five straight to begin the second half and take the lead. The squad continued to control the pace throughout the final quarter despite goals from Lomax, Ella Tice and Whitney Wood.
HOW IT HAPPENED – SIENA (W, 19-15)  
  • La Salle dominated the first half, outscoring Siena, 10-5. The squad jumped out to a 4-2 lead in the first frame with goals from Lomax (2), Co' and Kolovou.
  • In the second quarter, the lead grew to as many as 5, with the Explorers taking a 10-5 lead into the break. Bonet Saez and Kolovou scored multiple goals for the Blue & Gold.
  • The second half was more of the same, with Siena not getting closer than four till the final minute. Seven Explorers combined for nine goals. Including Lomax (2), Smith, Kolovou, Tice, Bonet Saez, Claire Durham, and Paige Mitchell.

  • La Salle takes nearly three weeks off before playing five games in California beginning with Whittier on Feb. 27.
