La Salle Triathlon Has Four Finish In Top Half At Robious Landing Collegiate Cup

Midlothian, Va – The La Salle women's triathlon team posted a strong sixth-place team finish at the Robious County Collegiate Cup on Sunday.

The Explorers' sixth-overall finish in the 14-team race marked their third-consecutive placing within the top-half among the respective competing field.

Individually, La Salle saw four athletes score within the top-half of the 80-contestant race, each of whom improved upon their scores from last week's competition at the Beaver County Collegiate Cup.

Luciana Ruiz (36th place), competing in her second-career NCAA race, posted the largest scoring improvement on the team. The freshman shaved nearly 13 minutes off her time from last week, finishing with a 1:05:01. Her pace of 4:24 is also a 44-second improvement.

Seniors Sophie Brandwene (28th place) and Gabriela Herbreder (39th place) each shaved nearly seven minutes off their scores from last week, coming in at 1:03:16:86 and 1:07:48:1, respectively.

Graduate Student Fiona Davoudi (26th place) finished the highest for La Salle, racing to a 1:02:54:8 mark, which is nearly two minutes better than her top 10 finish in last week's competition.

Freshman Beth Eldredge scored a 1:20:45:7 to round out the scores for La Salle, which was competing in its final regular season race of the fall.

The Explorers now shift gears to focus on the championship portion of the schedule, commencing next month with the East Regional Championship on October 25.
