Men's Basketball Hosts Saint Louis on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA, PA – The La Salle men's basketball team (5-11, 1-2 A-10) will continue Atlantic-10 play at home against Saint Louis (14-1, 2-0 A-10) at John E. Glaser Arena on Saturday, Jan. 10 with tip-off set for 4 p.m. 

Explorers Take Down Rams For First A-10 Win

The Explorers' 79-72 victory at Rhode Island was powered by efficiency as the team shot a season-best 61% (25-of-41) from the field and a season-best 53.8% (7-of-13) from 3-point range. 

Defensively, La Salle recorded a season-high 12 steals. The Blue and Gold also dominated the paint with a 36-22 scoring edge and shot 33 free throws, the most free throw attempts by any A-10 team in a conference game this season.

What's Up, Dock?

Redshirt sophomore guard Rob Dockery is averaging a team-high 18.3 points and 6.3 rebounds during three A-10 games while shooting 61.5% from the field.

Dockery has scored 20 or more points in back-to-back contests and led the Explorers in the win at Rhode Island with a game-high 22 points and seven rebounds while tallying a career-high 11 made free throws on 14 attempts.

Against George Washington, Dockery delivered a signature performance in his hometown, scoring a career-high 23 points.

The Truth Shall Set You Free

Graduate student guard Truth Harris erupted for a career-best 19 points off the bench against Rhode Island, hitting a personal-best four 3-pointers while matching his career-high with four steals.

Marshall Leads The Way

Graduate student guard Jaeden Marshall leads the team with 12.1 points per game and 27 3-point field goals, including a team-high six 3-pointers during A-10 play.

Marshall is shooting 52-of-58 (89.7%) from the free-throw line this season, the third-best percentage in the A-10 while ranking 40th in the nation.

Block Party

Junior forward Edwin Daniel is fifth in the A-10 and 105th in the nation with 22 blocks. Daniel has recorded at least one blocked shot in 11 straight games.

Daniel has blocked at least three shots in four different games this season.

A Storm Is Brewing

Since his return in the A-10 opener on Dec. 31, Jerome Brewer Jr., is averaging 13.7 points per game. During A-10 play, Brewer Jr. is also shooting a team-best 65.4% from the field with five made 3-pointers.

Brewer Jr. set the tone for the Explorers in the second half against Rhode Island, scoring 11 of his 14 total points in the final 20 minutes of play.

Rebound That Jawn

La Salle ranks fourth in the A-10 and 96th in the nation with 12.5 offensive rebounds per game, including 11 games with 10 or more offensive boards.

The Series

This is the 36th all-time meeting between the two programs. Saint Louis leads the series 25-10.

Scouting The Billikens

Saint Louis is red-hot with a 14-1 overall record and NET ranking of 24. The Billikens are tied for first in the A-10 with a 2-0 record in conference play.

The Billikens are ninth in the nation, averaging 93.8 points per game. It is the third time this season that La Salle will play a top-10 scoring offense (Michigan and High Point).

Saint Louis is second in the nation in field goal percentage defense (35.7%), second in defensive rebounds per game (32.5), third in scoring margin (26.8) and fourth in the NCAA in rebound margin (13.6).

Next Up

The Explorers will continue A-10 play on the road at Richmond on Wednesday, Jan. 14. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
