Philadelphia, PA – The La Salle field hockey team fell to Drexel, 6-3, on Sunday afternoon at Buckley Field.
The Dragons jumped out to an early lead, scoring three goals in the opening 13 minutes to take a 3-0 advantage after the first quarter. Drexel added two more goals in the second quarter to take a 5-0 lead into halftime.
The Explorers got on the board in the third quarter asMatilda Diedrichsen found the back of the cage, but Drexel answered just two seconds later to extend their lead to 6-1 heading into the final period.
La Salle continued to battle in the fourth quarter, with Natalie Wilson scoring at the 47:52 mark before Darian DeLeo converted a penalty stroke with just under five minutes remaining. The Explorers were unable to complete the comeback, falling 6-3.
Senior goalkeeper Abby Boggs recorded 13 saves in the contest as Drexel outshot La Salle, 27-8.
The Explorers return to action on Friday, Oct. 30, traveling to Saint Joseph's for their regular-season finale, with a trip to the Atlantic 10 Playoffs on the line.
