Philadelphia, PA – Freshman attacker Nadya Azzopardi and junior goalkeeper Lily Kirby each collected Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference weekly awards for the second straight week for La Salle women's water polo on Wednesday afternoon.
Kirby was named MAAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second straight week after registering 41 saves with seven steals and two assists in a three-game span for the Explorers.
In an 11-8 win against Siena last Sunday, La Salle punched their ticket as the No. 4 seed for the 2026 MAAC Water Polo Championship.
Kirby broke her own single-game program record with a spectacular 20-save performance, anchoring the Explorers defensively and holding Saints to just two first-half goals.
Kirby also increased her career total to 629 saves, needing nine to pass Emma Gurasich for the all-time program record.
Azzopardi earned MAAC Rookie of the Week honors for the second straight week after tallying six goals, four assists, and three steals in the 2-1 weekend for the Explorers.
Against Siena, Azzopardi scored two goals, added one assist, and recorded two steals, bringing her season total to a team-leading 53 goals.
Azzopardi split the weekly award with Julia Allen of LIU.
La Salle will return to action at the 2026 MAAC Championship in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., beginning with the semifinals on April 11 at 4 p.m. against top-seeded and 18th-ranked Marist, the regular season champions and tournament host.
