Duisburg, Germany - At this year's U23 World Rowing Championships, Braden Howard and the South Africa Men's Four made history, placing sixth in the A-Final for the country's best finish in the history of the event.
Howard and his crew placed third in their heat, narrowly advancing to the A/B Semifinal. The crew once again finished third, crossing the line within two seconds of the defending champions from the United States to clinch a spot in the A-Final for the first time in South African history. The previous best finish for South Africa in the event came in 2008, when the country placed eighth.
This marked Howard's third consecutive year competing for South Africa at the U23 World Rowing Championships. Also competing for La Salle University were Serbian brothers Predrag and Milan Cvetkovic, who placed third in the C-Final of the same event.
