Brianna D'Angelo

Brianna D'Angelo, who helped launch two successful acrobatics & tumbling programs and led Coker University to a 7-1 regular season record last year, was named as the inaugural head coach of La Salle acrobatics & tumbling in July 2024 by La Salle University Vice President for Athletics Ashwin Puri.

"I am thrilled to announce the addition of Brianna D'Angelo to La Salle," Puri said. "Brianna is a talented coach who has a strong track record of building a new program. I have no doubt she will create a winning culture and be a great fit for the La Salle community."

D'Angelo comes to La Salle after spending the last three seasons as head coach of Coker University (South Carolina). The 2024 season was a banner campaign for the Cobras. Under D'Angelo, Coker earned a 7-1 record, including victories over two top-15 opponents. The lone defeat came at the hands of No. 7 Limestone University. Coker won the Conference Carolinas' event championships in the Five Element, Open Pyramid, and Synchronized Pyramid. The Cobras advanced to the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) national tournament in the Synchronized Pyramid.

"Thank you to Ash and Associate Athletic Director Christine Pereira for this tremendous opportunity! I'm thrilled to join La Salle as the inaugural acrobatics & tumbling head coach," D'Angelo said. "I can't wait to build this program from the ground up. I'm thankful to be able to continue my passion for growing the sport at the next level. I look forward to this upcoming recruiting year and am excited to take my past experiences and knowledge to build a competitive and sustainable program."

In 2023, D'Angelo led her squad to a Conference Carolina's Championship Meet Final and a second straight conference title in the Open Pyramid, leading to a national berth in the event and advancing to nationals in the Inversion Pyramid. Her success only two years after the program's founding led D'Angelo to be recognized as the 2023 Coker Athletics Coach of the Year. D'Angelo led Coker through its first season as head coach in August 2021. In the program's first season, she led the squad to qualify nationally in the Open Pyramid after claiming the Carolina Conference Championship in the event.

Before joining Coker, D'Angelo helped start the acrobatics & tumbling program at Frostburg State. She spent two years as assistant acrobatics & tumbling coach with the Bobcats, helping the team win five Mountain East Conference event titles in its first season in 2020-21.

A collegiate acrobatics & tumbling student-athlete herself, D'Angelo was a member of the acrobatics & team at Glenville State. She was a two-time national qualifier for the NCATA National Championships. D'Angelo was named First Team All-Conference in 2019 in the Mountain East Conference and was a five-time Mountain East Conference event finalist. She was president of Glenville's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) during her senior year. She also competed as a member of the Glenville State women's track and field team for one season.

Before joining the staff at Frostburg State, she worked in New York at Southern Tier Gymnastics Academy. She was also a youth tumbling coach while enrolled at Glenville State College.

D'Angelo received a bachelor's degree in athletic conditioning and coaching from Glenville State. She earned her master's in recreation and park management with a sport management concentration from Frostburg State.
