Sarah Anderson begins her third season as an assistant coach of the La Salle field hockey program in 2018. Anderson joined the Explorers in 2016, after stints at Ferrum College and Appalachian State.
Working primarily with the goalkeepers, Anderson helped senior Rachel Hartman to a .766 save percentage in 2016. Under Anderson's guidance, Hartman tallied 111 saves on the season to rank second in the A-10.
Anderson played goalkeeper for four seasons at Appalachian State, finishing her career seventh on the all-time saves list with 336 and ninth on the single season all-time saves list with 172 saves. She was the team’s Most Valuable Player in 2013 and was twice a NorPac East Defensive Player of the Week.
Additionally, she trained with the U.S Field Hockey High Performance Program in 2013 and 2014. After her graduation in 2013, she worked as a volunteer assistant at her alma mater during the winter and spring, training goalies one-on-one and assisting in defensive strategy.
Anderson joined Ferrum College in its second year as a varsity program in 2014 and helped the team reduce its goals against from by nearly two goals.
In addition to her coaching experience, she has worked camps at Appalachian State and University of Louisville.
