Head Coach Tom Lochner welcomed back Chrissie (Donahue) Doogan to the La Salle University Women's Basketball coaching staff to start the 2004-05 season and in August 2005, she was promoted to Associate Head Coach. Doogan, a La Salle alumnae (1997), served as an assistant for the Explorers for five years before a two-year stint with Cornell University.
This will be Doogan's 15th season associated with La Salle Basketball, which includes four years as a player and her 11th as a coach, and this season is her 13th coaching season overall. For Lochner, Doogan is the recruiting coordinator and the primary handler for the skill development of the forwards.
Doogan is one of the top players ever to wear an Explorer jersey, ending her career as the school's second-leading scorer with 1,818 career points and third-leading rebounder with 914. Doogan led the team in scoring and rebounding her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. In 2003, Doogan was named to the La Salle Hall of Athletes.
She was named the Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Year in 1995 and the Rookie of the Year in 1994. She was a First Team All-Big 5 member in her final three seasons at La Salle, and was named Second Team All-Big 5 as a freshman. Her outstanding career in the Big 5 earned her a spot in the Hall of Fame in 2002. Two years ago, Doogan was named one of the top 25 players in the history of the Big 5.
In her four-year career at La Salle, Doogan never missed a postseason all-conference team. As a freshman and sophomore, she was named to the MCC All-Conference teams in 1994 (third) and 1995 (second). In the fall of 1995, the Explorers joined the Atlantic 10 Conference, and in her final two seasons Doogan was named to the A-10 All-Conference teams in 1996 (second) and 1997 (first).
After leading her team to a pair of 20-win seasons, Doogan stayed with the La Salle program as an assistant coach following her graduation in 1997 and held that position for five seasons. Doogan was responsible for the development of the Explorers' post players, as well as all aspects of scouting and team fundraising.
Doogan resides with her husband Pat, their daughter Maggie, and son Johnny in Broomall.
