Julie Weiss enters her eighth season with La Salle, and her sixth season as Head Coach, having previously served as the assistant coach for both the lacrosse and field hockey teams. In 2002, Weiss relinquished her hockey duties, focusing her passion and enthusiasm on taking the Explorers lacrosse team to a higher level. A 2000 James Madison graduate, Weiss had a distinguished playing career in two sports before entering the coaching profession. As a lacrosse player, Weiss was a member of the US Developmental squad from 1998-1999. In her time with the JMU lacrosse team, the Dukes won the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) conference title twice, with an NCAA Final Four appearance in 2000. She was a three-time CAA Scholar Athlete and a three-time Academic All-American. Equally impressive as a field hockey player, Weiss was selected to attend "B" and "A" camp twice for the field hockey developmental program. Prior to her collegiate career, Weiss was a three-sport athlete at Marple Newtown High School where she earned All-League and All-County honors in field hockey and lacrosse. She was also named All-American in lacrosse in her senior year. Along with her on-field accomplishments, Weiss also excelled in the classroom. She was on the Dean's List all four years at JMU, was a CAA scholar-athlete honoree, and was a three-time Academic All-American. Throughout her athletic career, Weiss has been involved in the development of lacrosse and field hockey on a national level. She has worked at numerous camps such as James Madison, Princeton, University of Pennsylvania and Villanova. In the summer of 2005, Weiss served as Lacrosse Camp Director at United Sports Training Center in Downingtown, PA. Outside of lacrosse, Weiss along with La Salle field hockey coach Sarah Catlin, and former James Madison teammate Mandy Latz, co-founded and direct Head to Toe Hockey, Inc. Weiss grew up in Newtown Square, PA and graduated from James Madison University with a bachelor's degree in Media Arts and Design.
