Billy Kerr serves as the Head Athletic Trainer at La Salle University, where he oversees the comprehensive sports medicine program for 19 NCAA Division I athletic teams and approximately 370 student-athletes. In this role, Billy manages the athletic training staff, leads the departments daily operations, and ensures the delivery of exceptional healthcare services. He plays a critical role in developing and implementing departmental policies, managing budget and compliance, and spearheading strategic planning initiatives centered around athlete health and safety.

Billy brings nearly a decade of clinical and administrative experience to La Salle. Prior to joining the Explorers in January 2024, he served as the Associate Director of Sports Medicine at Temple University from 2022-2024, providing direct care for the football program. During his tenure as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Temple from 2019-2022, Billy provided medical coverage for Men’s Soccer, Women’s Tennis, and the Cross Country and Track & Field teams.

From 2018-2019, Billy served as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Immaculata University, where he cared for a variety of the university’s 24 athletic teams. Prior to that, he served as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at Northern Illinois University from 2016-2018, primarily overseeing the Women’s Gymnastics and Women’s Cross Country teams. 

Billy earned a Doctorate in Athletic Training (DAT) from Temple University in 2023, while also earning a Graduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education. In 2018 he completed his Master’s degree of Science in Education, specializing in Sports and Exercise Psychology, at Northern Illinois University, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Delaware in 2016.

Billy’s professional credentials include certifications as a Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES), Functional Movement Systems Level 1 and CPR Instructor. He is also an active member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA).
