Michael Zolk

A Philadelphia native, Mike Zolk arrives at La Salle after coaching at Harford Community College in Bel Air, Maryland, since 2022.

While at Harford, a Division I JUCO, Zolk served as the program’s Recruiting Coordinator and Hitting Coach. Harford put up eye-popping numbers during Zolk’s three years in the program, hitting an accumulative .333 while averaging over 10 runs per game. Zolk’s recruiting prowess also saw him procure commitments from players at Division I schools such as North Carolina, Miami, Ole Miss, and Costal Carolina, among 28 total schools. He also helped Harford players land at schools such as Virginia, Washington State, West Virginia, Maryland, and many others.

No stranger to Philadelphia baseball, Zolk was also the head coach at SSR Neuman-Goretti High School from 2017-2022, amassing a 77-26 record and a state championship in 2017 in which he was named Southeastern Pennsylvania Coach of the Year. Zolk has coached four MLB draft picks.

As a player, Zolk graduated from Neuman-Goretti, where he won Philadelphia Catholic League championships in both his years (2010 and 2011), and was a first team, all-state and Philadelphia Catholic League MVP winner in 2011. Zolk attended Northeast Catholic prior and was a two-time second team, all catholic selection.

Zolk went on to play at the University of North Carolina, where he was a two-year starter at second base in 2012 and 2013. North Carolina was 105-28 in Zolk’s two years starting. He helped the Tar Heels win an ACC Tournament and regular season title in 2013, a year in which they went all the way to Omaha for the men’s College World Series. Zolk was named to the All-Region team in both 2012 and 2013.

At North Carolina, Zolk studied communications and graduated in 2014.
