PHILADELPHIA - After winning all five of his individual events over the weekend, La Salle men's swimming senior
Austin Thomas has been named the Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week as announced by the conference office today. He was also named the La Salle Student-Athlete of the Week.
Thomas started off the weekend by winning the 50-free (21.23), 100-free (47.89) and 100-fly (51.73) as the Explorers defeated Villanova on Friday afternoon at Kirk Pool.
The Cherry Hill, N.J. native also helped the 400 medley relay to victory by swimming the anchor leg in 47.89.
On Saturday against Drexel, Thomas followed up his performance with two more individual first-place finishes. He completed the 50-free in 20.82, .40 of a second off the school record set by him at the 2011 A-10 Championships, and the 100-fly in 50.65.
Thomas helped the 400-free relay come out on top (46.95 spilt) and the 200-medley relay come in second (20.86 anchor leg).
The Explorers will return to the pool to face St. Bonaventure and Duquesne on November 5 in Buffalo, N.Y.
