Sophomore Jakub Bartosiewicz of La Salle swimming and diving has been named GoExplorers.com Athlete of the Week following his performance in two wins over Villanova and Drexel last week.

The native of Sochaczew, Poland won all four individual events he was entered in over the two meets, while helping three of the four relay teams he was a part of take home the top spot as well.

Against Villanova, Bartosiewicz was a perfect four-for-four in events he swam. First he helped the 400-yard medley relay team win the race with an overall time of 3:27.89, nearly six seconds clear of the field. He next won both the 200-yard freestyle (1:44.68) and 500-yard freestyle (4:47.56) races by margins of 1.86 and 3.85 seconds respectively. He returned for the final race of the night helping the 200-yard freestyle relay team swim a 1:29.18 for first place. On the day La Salle took home a 222.5-135.5 victory.

At Drexel Bartosiewicz picked up two more solo wins this time in doing so in butterfly events. In the 200-yard butterfly the sophomore swam a 1:51.94 to win by 1.20 seconds and in the 100-yard butterfly he swam a 50.37 to out-touch the nearest opponent by .18 seconds. He also swam the lead leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay helping the team swim a 3:10.31 to win by 1.13 seconds. The Explorers picked up a 167-133 win over Drexel on the day.

Bartosiewicz and the Explorers return to action this Saturday as they travel to Geneva, Ohio and the Spire Institute to take on Duquesne, St. Bonaventure, and Saint Louis beginning at 10 a.m.Â
