PHILADELPHIA – After picking up three goal medals at the 2012 Atlantic 10 Swimming & Diving Championships, Blase Szyszko has been named the La Salle Student-Athlete of the Month for February.
 
The selection was made through voting by La Salle's sports information department.
 
Szyszko showed he is the conference's best breaststroker by winning both the 100-breast (56.30) and 200-breast (2:01.35).
 
In the 200-breast, he broke the school record that was set in 1990 by former Olympian Eric Buhain.
 
On the first day of the championships, Szyszko helped the 200-medley relay to a gold medal.  It squad also broke a La Salle school record and made an NCAA “B” cut by swimming a 1:29.07.

The Explorers would place fourth in the conference at the meet.
