Senior Daniel Fitzgerald left his mark on the record board in his final collegiate swim meet at the 2013 Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships held in Geneva, Ohio. Fitzgerald lowered his exisitng school record of 48.68 to 48.25 in the 100 yard backstroke. That time also broke the 14-year-old Atlantic 10 Conference record. In finals, Fitzgerald would go on to take silver in the event, touching in 48.76.
Fitzgerald also broke a 31-year-old school record in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 44.87, making him the first Explorer under the 45-second barrier. In addition, he split a 44.65 on the 400 yard freestyle relay and a blistering 19.93 on the 200 yard freestyle relay.
Fitzgerald now holds a total of four La Salle school records, all of which have the potential to stand for quite some time.
