Jessi Lieb Martin, a three-year player on the US National Lacrosse Team and four-year Penn State student-athlete, enters her third season on the La Salle sidelines in 2014-15.

Lieb Martin assisted with the 2014 squad that finished tied for second in the A-10 standings, more than bettering their preseason prediction of sixth. The Explorers captured the No. 3 seed in the Atlantic 10 Championship. Individually, La Salle boasted the 2014 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year, two Atlantic 10 First Team honorees, an A-10 Second Team pick, three A-10 All-Rookie selections as well as two Academic All-Conference honorees.

In her first season on 20th and Olney in 2013, the Explorers matched a program high with 10 wins along with the best nonconference record in program history (8-1). Two players earned Atlantic 10 All-Conference accolades, including one each on the First Team and Second Team. One player also earned All-Rookie status and two were named to the Academic All-Conference Team.

“I am thrilled to welcome Jessi to our Explorer family,” Taglianetti Bossell said at the time of her hire prior to the 2013 season. “Jessi has competed at the highest level as a former US national team player and Penn State student-athlete. She coached under a great mentor (Philadelphia-native Kristen Selvage) while on the national stage as an assistant at Lock Haven. We can’t wait to get Jessi to sport the navy and gold on the Explorer sidelines.”

Lieb Martin spent the prior two seasons as an assistant at Lock Haven, helping the team post a 27-9 record over that span. She helped guide the 2011 squad to a 16-3 record and a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship. Her 2011 squad also earned the Division II Team Community Awareness Award.

Prior to Lock Haven, Lieb Martin coached for two years on the Main Line. She served as the head junior varsity lacrosse coach at Notre Dame Academy in 2009, guiding her team to a 14-2 record. The following spring, she was the head coach for the eighth grade squad for Radnor Township Youth Lacrosse. Lieb also spent two seasons (2008, 2009) as the assistant varsity soccer coach at Radnor High School.

Lieb Martin also has extensive playing experience, including three years with the United States National Lacrosse Team from 2007-09. She was selected as one of 48 US team players each of those years and made the 24-member World Cup training team in 2009.

Prior to that, Lieb Martin was a four-year standout at Penn State. She was a three-time Tewaaraton Trophy Preseason Watch List selection, as well as a three-time pick to the American Lacrosse Conference (ALC) First Team and three-time IWLCA All-Region selection. She led the Nittany Lions in scoring her senior year with 27 goals and nine assists for 36 points. In total, she netted 107 goals over four years at Penn State.

Lieb Martin hails from Villanova, Pa., where she was a three-sport student-athlete at Radnor High School and two-time lacrosse All-American. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Penn State in 2008.
